Today, write about a seemingly contradictory or inherent tension in a narrative or situation. Maybe you want to be a widely published writer but are too terrified to ever submit your work for publication consideration, maybe you love being a parent but can’t stand your kids, or maybe you can look elsewhere and note a large company that is a huge polluter but who pushes recycling efforts aggressively to customers, or a politician who claims education is their top priority but who slashes public school funding, or a person who is stresses how easygoing, fun and positive they are, when they are actually major drama-filled haters.
Whatever is calling to you today.
But, rather than succumbing to the easy lure of writing the equivalent of the shrugging emoji or debating the two things, write into the middle of the issue where both sides are very much present, right into the “both things can be true” space right in the center of the issue. Let both truths exist rather than try to appoint a victor. Let’s go.
