Contradictions or not really?
Sometimes things only feel like a truth but are not, in fact, a real truth at all
Today, write about something that feels like a contradiction in your life. Your “also true” thing that seems to be (but may not actually be) in contrast to and in conflict with something else.
It could be straightforward like: you love eating very healthy, organic food but also true is that once in a while you love to drink a soda. Or, it’s something bigger like: you love big cities and all the action and diversity that comes with them, but you also love the slowness and calm of rural spaces, too. Or, you love your gray hair and believe coloring it feels inauthentic, but also true is ageism is a real thing.
But, also be mindful to look for what feels like a contradiction when it may not actually be one at all. Maybe we allow ourselves to believe things that aren’t totally true like “urban spaces are all noisy” (not true, peace and calm can be anywhere) or “gray hair leads to discrimination” (very possible, sure, but is it absolutely true in your life?) and so on.
Find that seemingly contradictory thing for yourself and not only write about it but interrogate it as you do. Write until you get down deep into core of it. Let’s go.
