Today, consider something that you’re personally into but that you don’t necessarily broadcast. Maybe you have a semi-secretly witchy side, or collect miniatures, or knit sweaters for your dog or whatever. Not necessarily something you’re embarrassed to admit, but just something that you don’t talk a lot about in public ways.
Then, to draw writing inspiration today, combine that with the history of your local community and write about that. For example, maybe you are all writer online but you’re obsessed with collecting crystals or baking pies or cosplay. Maybe that leads you to discover there was a prohibition-era pie baker in your city who ran a speakeasy in the back of their shop, or maybe the local costume shop has been around 100 years and has a lot to say about that one Star Trek convention in the 80s or whatever. You get the idea. Indulge that interest of yours by using it to fuel a research bender through your town’s history and see what you find as writing inspo.
Writing into the intersection of two things— like fanship + history— is one of those idea-generators that keeps on giving.
Let’s write into that.
