For days when you feel like creative garbage
Create this document as a shield against future blahs
All November, we’re focusing on non-fiction writing prompts per usual but through the frame of also taking a good, long look at your writing life and overall creative career things you want to do.
Today, write about what you want to remember when you’re in “burn it all to the ground” mode; when nothing you do seems right or like it’s enough and it feels like everything you do creatively turn to shit. Write a note to your future self for days like that, or a list of stuff you want to remember when everything looks grim and frustrating.
You are uniquely qualified to write such a note/list to yourself in a low place because only you know how those lows feel and because nobody knows you better. The goal isn’t to stop yourself from feeling the blues on creatively difficult days (because you very much need to feel all your feelings), but rather, to give yourself things to focus on as a “yes and also” to help you get your balance a bit,
And, if today is a day in which you feel like creative garbage, there is no problem with waiting to do this another time.
Who among us does not feel like creative garbage sometimes?
