Today, write about a piece of furniture from your childhood home. Start by writing about the furniture itself— where’d it come from and what did it look like?— but keep writing until you unearth a story connected to the piece of furniture. Maybe it figured prominently in the events of a particular day, or it fell apart spectacularly, or it now lives with you and makes you think of a specific memory.
