Hard choices at the speed of light
Because we usually already know but we’re just being squirmy about it
This week I read about an exercise that involves creating a list of everything in our lives about which a decision is required but that we’ve been putting off due to uncertainty or fear or overwhelm, then going through the list quickly to arrive at a gut-response “yes” or “no” for each with any “eh, maybe” answers being considered a “no.”
And that energy is fucking wild. Look, the answers aren’t binding, and you don’t have do anything with your “yes” or “no” answers other than admit to them. But even as just a thought exercise, it’s a wonderfully terrifying lift.
If you were to run through such a list in your mind, answering y/n for each, which one is the hardest to admit to yourself? Which one felt like the most complicated answer? Today, write about one of those struggle-items. Let’s do this.
