Today, I want you to make two lists. One called “I am” and one called “I believe.” Set a timer for, say 3-5 minutes for each list, and while the clock is ticking, fill in your list as fast as you possibly can, one at a time. Don’t think, don’t fix typos, don’t reconsider, just say “3, 2, 1, go!” and get after it before your brain catches on and your inner critic tries to quibble about any of it. You can always edit later.
Now look at these marvelous lists of all the things you are and all the things you believe. Pick one item from one of the lists and write about it today.
And, while I would normally tell you to simply save the rest of what you just generated to your list of big ideas and write about them another time, additionally, I also want you to consider each item on both of your lists the beginning of a social media post, too, and one that can make what you post feel resonant and connective rather than shallow. (Not that I didn’t earlier today repeatedly watch a video of a puppy riding on the back of a chicken with the caption of only something like “cute friends” and indeed there is a time and a place for that, but you get the idea). Anyway. Let’s go.
