We often use introvert/extrovert as shorthand for shy/outgoing but the real focus is more about our default framing and whether socializing v. personal time fortifies or depletes our energy levels.
Write about this today. Especially if you, like me, are a person who is one type but seems like the other— that is, are an introvert who seems extroverted; who can be confidently social and have high output in short bursts but hits energy walls and has very little to give after being in big social mode without first having quiet time to fill back up, energetically. (Or, conversely, if you are a person for whom quiet and solitude sends you spiraling into discomfort or insecurity, but talking with others fills your energy tank right up.)
Write about all of this today. And write about how you feel about it and what, if any, problems or misunderstandings it causes in your life, say where hitting introvert energy walls may be incorrectly read as indifference to extroverts or how extrovert social sprints feel demanding or insensitive to introverts who just need a minute. Let’s write.
