Laying down a struggle

(Even if just for a moment)

Your assignment today, should you decide to accept it, is to write the story of something with which you are struggling, and for which you want a witness— something to act as an “I see you, I believe you; I’m not offering advice but just letting your words stand” kind of deal. You very likely won’t want to publish this thing (though, maybe you write it and decide otherwise?! Or, maybe you write it and send it straight through the shredder. Both valid choices) but your paper (or screen) is going to be your witness. Unburden yourself of a big struggle you’re carrying and lay it down on paper today, even if just for a while to give yourself a rest from it.
