Write about taking an alternative path. That might mean a path you took or watched someone else take, or it might mean a path you wish you took or just generally another way of accomplishing something.
I’m reminded of this because I recently revisited a place I hadn’t been in a few years and was reflecting on where I was emotionally at the time of my last visit and how I was approaching things. My path was fine then, but I was approaching it so very differently than I approach things now. And between then and now, I had a stretch of rough patches that forced me to realize I wasn’t playing enough on my own terms. Indeed, I’ve always been a person who aims to understand and interrogate accepted norms and why so many follow them by rote, but even from that state, I had more work to do. And, thankfully, did it.
So when I think of alternative paths, I think about feeling stuck on steps we believe are absolutely required of us when in fact we’re ready to do leap forward or do it another way.
I wish you clear and deep writing. Let’s go.
