Do you have any special connection to an otherwise not-special day of the year? Let’s write about that today.
What kind of sillyass question-prompt is that, Guth? I’ll tell you: for reasons that are not totally clear to me, I had a decade-long streak of New Year’s Eve-Eve always turning out to be so spontaneously bizarre and memorable that I embrace it now and make a point to go with the flow and let the day unfold and act on whatever silly whims that day and I’ve kept that streak going strong. New Year’s Eve's Eve is always fun in my book, and somehow always just the adventure I need that particular year.
But, I also always end up having some funny and unexpected and otherwise memorable thing also happen in my life on or around a particular day in May every year, too. It’s the anniversary of the day one of my grandmothers died, so I always note the day, but, without fail, something wildly unexpected always seems to find a way to me on that day.
I have no explanations for why this day in May and the night before New Year’s Eve always turn out so spontaneously memorable but I go with it and regret nothing.
