Privilege
Have the uncomfortable conversation with yourself
Today, write about a system you once trusted (or tolerated) because it benefited you in small ways, even as it harmed others more severely. What made you finally pull back and see the full cost? And what finally made you change? (Or did you?)
This could mean you leaned into the narrow definition of beauty standards (thin, white, doll-like vibe) to fit in or get ahead or simply to enjoy “pretty privilege.” (often sold to us as needing to look “professional” or “polished” as having a very little room for deviation). Or, maybe you played into a patriarchal boys club to build your career and took advantage of male privilege. Or class privilege or “model minority” tropes. Whatever this brings up for you, write deeply into that space, willing to have the uncomfortable conversation with yourself and see what unfurls for you. Edit later; just capture it all for now.
