Today, let’s write out some big anger. And, let me guess, you just went, “eh, I don’t want to get into it,”…? Because for how many of us does this feel true: anger doesn’t always feel socially acceptable, and the more historically marginalized our identity feels, the less okay our anger might feel. But, what if there is hidden power in our anger?
Anger can a power tool, a guidepost, and a map all in one. And, if nothing else, it’s a good idea to get it out, and the fact that it might feel like a big fucking chore to do that may very well be a big sign that action is needed.
Start by writing a list of things that piss you off, things you’re really angry about, things you’re really angry about and things that you have deep rage about, then pick one and write about it. Or, just dive right in and start writing and don’t stop until you feel a sense of catharsis.
Are you NaNoWriMo-ing? Sames. I’m not aiming at a novel, but I am aiming at 50k words in the month of November.
