Today, write about the rules of access no one says out loud because we’ve internalized them so deeply, nobody needs to spell them out. For example, the unspoken dress code that signals who is and who is not “professional” looking, the tone that makes a customer service complaint succeed or fail, or the phrases and body language that mark you as “serious” in a meeting. Write about a particular hidden access code and how it shapes outcomes, where it get thorny or problematic, and what it means to fight it versus follow it.
