Today, write about being stuck. I mean that in the physical sense like stranded at an airport during a blizzard (oh, memories, dear LaGuardia) or stuck in a train car or elevator (shoutout to recent events at the UCLA-adjacent Target), or even killing time when having car repairs done when there’s just nowhere to go. I mean it in that sense, but there’s no reason you couldn’t also take this to mean stuck in the psychological sense— stuck on a decision, stuck on a project, or stuck having to wait for news like a college acceptance, a surgery outcome, a job offer, and so forth. Whatever “stuck” brings up for you today, write about that.
I would only offer this: being stuck creatively is often cover for something else. Usually, it’s either a sign that we need to rest, or it’s a sign we aren’t fully trusting ourselves and/or a sign that we are afraid to really do the thing we want to do. So, while writers’ block might seem like an obvious choice, it is usually code for something else and often cured with bold action or courage or both.
