Today, write your own eulogy, then write about how you feel about said eulogy.
Writing your own eulogy is only morbid if you feel an avoidant way about death but the reality is that we’re all going to die eventually, and it doesn’t hurt even a little bit to dig in and make sure our eulogies will sound the way we want them to. Because if they don’t that’s a sure sign that we need to make some hard choices and make our lives land the way we want them to land.
So, part one: eulogy. Part two: how you feel about the eulogy. Is there too little adventure in it? Too few accomplishments? The absence of a particular person or dream fulfilled? This is your writing prompt today but it’s also your sign to think really hard about what you want from your life. Or, as Mary Oliver called it, your one “wild and precious life.”
