I have this idea that sometimes when we want a thing to happen, we get so attached to the way in which it’s “supposed” to unfold that we ignore, dismiss and sabotage situations that are that thing we want but that don’t arrive in the way we expect them. I can almost predict it now, having watched this play out around me so many times with people being presented with creative opportunities and solutions to personal wishes then finding a way to destroy them.
That can look like: wanting a creative deal but sabotaging it when it’s time to make it official, wanting to get an editor for your manuscript but making sure to be too busy to actually schedule the meeting, making time to write but consistently having some (not-actual) crisis to deal with instead, meeting someone great but deciding surely they’re not the right person to date bc you didn’t meet them in a grand romantic way.
Today, get honest with yourself and write about a way in which you have definitely been so attached to how the path is supposed to look that you didn’t see it/take it when an opportunity was right in front of you. It’s safe to do that. Let’s write.
