I recently found myself in a situation in which I had to have an awkward conversation. Actually, a had to have a couple of awkward conversations. And, I was reminded of that human thing of not knowing what to say and instead just saying a lot of things, some relevant and some not, to fill the space and slice through the awkwardness.
We talk a lot about pushing ourselves to speak up and say difficult things, and not as much as things that keep us from being quiet when silence is what is needed most.
