I do hope you’ll indulge me as I interrupt your usual daily writing prompt programming for one extra note.
Is it just me or does everything feel kind of suddenly, weirdly urgent right now? Like this strange pull to get everything done and get ready very quickly for… whatever next chapter is ahead? Sames. I feel that every day lately, even if I have yet to totally be able to pinpoint why other than (*gestures at general intensity of the world*).
With that, I’ve seen a little bump in inquires about working with me 1:1 on nonfiction book proposals and manuscript developmental edits. Which delights me, to be sure, but also, sometimes folks only need a little, tiny bit of help with the mechanics of a book proposal or just a little, tiny amount of guidance about avoiding common missteps (and, to be sure, it’s damn hard to Google things you don’t know you don’t know).
For folks who want that full 1:1 editorial support coaching to knock out your nonfiction book proposal and sample chapter quickly and well, by all means, let’s keep having those conversations (I have 2 spots now, and will have 1-2 more this summer as other clients finish up). I’d be delighted to talk about your project and see where I can be helpful to you.
But also, now I have another option on offer for those who may still be in the “thinking about it and want to sketch it out first” phase, for those who have a more DIY budget, who may only need a little bit of support about proper formatting or who just want some guidance around avoiding common book proposal missteps. For you, lovely people in any of the above categories, I give you “Write Now! The Fill-In-The-Blanks, Bullshit-Free Guide to Getting Your Book Proposal Done,” my new 13-page guide that takes you step-by-step through a non-fiction book proposal, helps you nail the parts that are tricky and guides you through decision-making about what to include and why. It’s straight-to-the-point real-talk and fairly fill-in-the-blanks, so you can open a document and write alongside it as you go.
